Pa5X Made for the Korg Pa5X

Your Pa5X styles, on a big screen.

Hear every style of your set on your PC. Draw drums and bass with the mouse, change sounds and the mixer, and take styles from other sets. Then load it all back on your keyboard.

  • Every Pa5X: 61, 76 and 88 keys
  • Windows 10 and 11
  • Works offline
  • 13 languages
The Studio: the style's parts as cards on the left, the drum part as a big grid of squares in the middle, and the hits' values on the right.
The Studio: click a square to add a drum hit, and hear it straight away.

What it does

Everything you do on the keyboard's screens, with a mouse and room to see.

Draw drums and bass

Open any style in the Studio. Each part is a card: Bass, Drum, Perc, Acc1 to Acc5. Pick one and its notes fill the screen.

  • Drums are a grid named like the keyboard names them: Kick, Snare, Closed Hi-Hat. Click to add a hit, drag to paint a row.
  • Bass and chords are a piano roll. Draw a note, drag it, make it longer.
  • See the kick drum behind the bass while you draw, so they lock together.
  • Loud or soft, early or late, Humanize: one click on the notes you pick.
  • Loop a fill or an intro while you work on it. Undo every step.
Try it here: tap the squares 100 BPM · 1 bar · 1/16

In the Studio you do the same on your own styles, with the drums of their own kits.

Hear a style before it goes on the keyboard

Press Start and play the style on the PC: intros, variations, fills, breaks and endings, on the chords you pick, from the PC keys or a MIDI keyboard. Pads play too.

Your own user sounds and drum kits play their own samples. Korg's built-in sounds aren't inside a set: record them once from your Pa5X and they play as the keyboard plays them. Until then the PC plays a similar sound in their place.

The style editor playing: eight parts side by side like the Pa5X mixer, each with its sound, pan, on/off switch and volume fader.
The mixer, like the Pa5X's Mixer/FX page, while the style plays.

Your Pa5X's own sounds, on the PC

Connect the keyboard with a USB cable and the style plays on the Pa5X itself while you work, with Korg's real sounds. Or record those sounds once from your keyboard, and from then on they play on the PC too.

  • The whole style, or one part, plays on the keyboard and follows the chords you pick.
  • Record the keyboard's sounds and drum kits your styles use, note by note, every drum soft, medium and hard.
  • With an audio cable, or without one: the Pa5X records an MP3 of a song the app makes, and you drop the MP3 in.
  • Your own drum kits get softer and louder the way the keyboard plays them.
  • The recordings stay on your PC, for your own use.

Change sounds, mixer and effects

  • Pick another sound for a part, from your set or from the Pa5X's own sounds.
  • Volume, pan, EQ, effects, tuning and the Drum Editor, for each part.
  • Copy an intro, fill or ending from another style.
  • Change the four keyboard sets that come with the style.
  • Save just that one style when you're happy with it.
The EQ page of the style editor: each part with its sound, EQ curve and volume.
EQ for each part, as on the keyboard's Mixer/FX › EQ page.

Build your set from other sets

Your set on the left, another Pa5X set on the right, both shown like the keyboard's Style Select screen. Drag styles, pads, keyboard sets, sounds or whole banks across.

  • Styles bring the user sounds they play, and the sounds bring their samples.
  • Nothing of yours is replaced: new sounds go into free slots.
  • The Pa5X's 4 GB sample memory is checked before you save.
Edit set: your set on the left, a second set on the right, both shown like the keyboard's Style Select screen.
Edit set: drag from the right into your set on the left.

Cut and shape your own samples

A small sample editor, built for the Pa5X. Open a WAV, MP3, M4A, OGG or FLAC file, or take the sample of one of your sounds.

  • Keep only the part you want, delete, silence, fade in and out.
  • Make it louder, reverse it, make it mono.
  • Set the loop on the selection, move it to where the wave crosses zero and crossfade it so it repeats smoothly.
  • Pick the key it plays at its own pitch, then play it on the piano.
  • Make it a user sound of your set, ready for your styles, pads and fills, or save it as a WAV.
The Samples page: a brass stab's waveform with a part selected, and buttons to cut, fade, normalize, reverse, loop and make a sound in your set.
Samples: select, cut, fade and loop, then put it in your set.

Find any style

Type a name once and see every set on your PC that has it, with the bank. SongBook songs are found too.

Check your set

Finds sounds without their samples, empty files and names the keyboard can't read, and fixes them.

Drum kits as on the keyboard

Each drum key of your kits plays at its own level and pan, rolls and chord samples stop when they should, and open and closed hi-hats cut each other.

Copy to a USB stick

A clean copy at the top of the stick, where the Pa5X looks for it. Every file checked.

More Pa5X screens

Keyboard sets, pads, quarter-tone scales and MaxxAudio presets: drag them in from other sets.

Your language

How it works

Three steps, no manual needed.

Drop your set

Save your set to a USB stick on the Pa5X and plug it into the PC. KeyStyle Studio finds it by itself, or drag the folder that ends in .KST onto the window.

Change what you want

Hear and change styles, or drop a second set beside yours and drag across. Nothing on disk changes yet.

Save and load

Click Save: your set gets the changes, and the version from before goes into a backups folder. Copy it to the stick and load it on the Pa5X.

What you need

  • A Korg Pa5X (61, 76 or 88 keys)
  • A USB stick
  • A PC with Windows 10 or 11
  • To hear styles on the keyboard: a USB A-to-B cable

Coming next

More is on the way.

KeyStyle Studio starts with the Pa5X, as a desktop program for Windows. Next: a Mac version, and the sets of more Korg keyboards.

  • MacKeyStyle Studio for macOS computers
  • Pa4X.SET sets
  • Pa3X, Pa1000, Pa700.SET sets
  • Kronosprograms and combis

Safety and privacy

Your sets are safe, and they stay yours.

Nothing changes until you save

  • Opening and listening only reads your set.
  • Each save keeps the version from before in a backups folder next to the set.
  • Undo a save with one click.
  • If the PC switches off in the middle of a save, the next start puts things right.

No account, no tracking

  • KeyStyle Studio runs on your PC and works without internet.
  • Your sets, styles and samples are never uploaded anywhere.
  • No ads, no analytics, no data collection.
  • This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other sites.

Questions

Questions musicians ask

Which keyboards does it work with?

Every Korg Pa5X: 61, 76 and 88 keys. The Pa4X, the older Pa models and the Kronos are coming next.

Does it change anything on my keyboard?

No. It works on the set you saved to a USB stick. When you're done, copy the set back to the stick (the app can do that) and load it on the Pa5X as usual: FILE › Drives › Load.

What if a save goes wrong?

The version from before is kept as a backup next to your set, and you can put it back with one click. A save is built and checked next to your set first; your set only changes once the new version is complete.

Will the styles sound exactly like on my Pa5X?

Close, not exact. Your own user sounds and drum kits play their own samples. Korg's built-in sounds aren't inside a set: record them once from your keyboard and they play as the Pa5X plays them, or connect the keyboard by USB and hear the style on the Pa5X itself. Filters and effects are close but not the same, so do the final listen on the keyboard.

Which cable do I need?

To hear styles on the keyboard: a USB 2.0 cable, type A to type B (the printer kind), into the USB socket on the back of the Pa5X marked Device. To record the keyboard's sounds with cables, also an audio cable from the Pa5X's headphone or audio outputs to the PC's line input. You can also record without an audio cable, with the Pa5X's own MP3 recorder.

Do I need to install anything else?

No. One installer puts everything in place, without administrator rights. Remove it any time from Windows Settings › Apps.

Can it play Korg's locked factory styles?

No. Styles that Korg locked are shown, but they can't be played on the PC, and KeyStyle Studio doesn't unlock them. The keyboard plays them as usual.

Do I need internet?

Only to enter your code once. After that KeyStyle Studio works offline, at home and at gigs; when the PC is online it quietly checks the code about once a month, and it keeps working for four months without a check. Your sets never leave your PC.

Can I use it on two PCs?

One code works on one PC at a time. Got a new PC? Click Move to another PC in the old one, then type your code on the new one. If the old PC broke, the app emails you a link that frees your code. You can move it 3 times a year.

Does it work on a Mac, a tablet or a phone?

Today it needs a Windows 10 or 11 PC or laptop. A Mac version is coming. KeyStyle Studio is a desktop program: editing a set needs a big screen and a mouse, so there is no phone or tablet version.

Is KeyStyle Studio made by Korg?

No. It's an independent program that reads and writes the files your Pa5X saves. Korg doesn't make or support it.

Is there a free trial?

No. The screenshots and the drum grid above show how it works, and if KeyStyle Studio doesn't work for you, you get your money back within 14 days.

Can I pay with crypto?

Yes: Bitcoin, USDT and other coins through [crypto processor]. Card, Apple Pay and Google Pay go through [reseller name]. Either way, the download link and your code come by email right after paying.

How do I get the program and my code after buying?

Both come by email right after paying: a download link for Windows and your code. Install KeyStyle Studio, paste the code and click Unlock. Lost the email? Write to us and we'll send it again.
