Version 0.37.0 · Performance tools
Prepare your set. Rehearse on your Pa5X.
Organize SongBook entries, keep lyrics and chords ready for the stage, and record a repeatable style audition through your connected keyboard. The new Performance workspace brings these tools together.
Validation status: software and browser checks passed. The new SongBook, multisample and compressed-sample writes still need physical Pa5X loading verification. The complete automated audition also needs an end-to-end hardware check. Keep your original set and try a separate copy first.
SongBook entries and native set lists
In Performance → SongBook, edit entry names, artists, genres and resource links. Duplicate an entry into a free slot in an existing bank, delete entries, and create or reorder native set lists. Renaming an entry updates its set-list references. Changes join the app’s normal save and backup workflow.
Musical setup data is preserved. Tempo, key, numeric SongBook IDs and other undecoded setup parameters are not editable in this release. Unsupported metadata stays read-only.
Lyrics, chords and a stage screen
Build an ordered set list in Performance → Stage & set lists. Write lyrics with inline chords such as [Dm], then open a large stage view with adjustable text and previous/next controls. Export a backup of your performance library.
Stage lyrics and playlists live in the app’s local library. They are separate from native SongBook set lists. An optional SongBook number lets you explicitly recall the matching entry on the keyboard.
Reusable chord progressions
Save a progression such as Dm:4 | Gm:4 | A7:4 | Dm:4, edit chord durations and slash chords, export MIDI, or send the chords to a connected Pa5X. In Notes & patterns → Use saved chords, insert a progression into a supported existing intro or ending chord clip.
Standalone native Pa5X Chord Sequence files are not written yet. MIDI export and live chord sending are available; sending chords alone does not start the arranger.
Record an audition through the real keyboard
In Performance → Connection, choose your MIDI output and audio input. With the matching style already loaded on the Pa5X, run a repeatable chord progression through its available variations, fills and break, plus one selected intro/ending pair per run. Listen to the captured WAV and download the measurements and estimated section markers.
The app cannot reliably read the loaded style name or confirm the active section. Confirm the selected Player, style, actual tempo and chord-scan setup before running. Measurements help you compare level and transitions; they do not automatically judge whether the arrangement sounds good.
Connection profiles and remote controls
Save the MIDI output, control and chord channels, and Player choice as a profile. Recall SongBook entries by number, select Keyboard Sets, send style-element controls, and check incoming MIDI clock and captured audio levels.
MIDI carries control and note data. Capturing the keyboard’s sound also requires an audio connection. The measured MIDI clock may differ from the selected Player’s tempo; check the keyboard display when preparing an audition.
A visual multisample builder
Open Samples → Build a multisample, import several samples, and arrange their key ranges and root notes on a visual keyboard map. Preview the mapping, then queue the new user sound in an empty slot.
Optional lossy sample compression is available for newly imported samples, with reconstruction-error checks. It is off by default and has not been verified by loading the generated compressed samples on a Pa5X. Existing PCM samples are not bulk-recompressed.
MIDI assistance and Guitar/RX diagnostics
In a style’s Notes & patterns, use MIDI song assistant to inspect a MIDI song, choose source passages and map its tracks to existing style parts. Destination section lengths are kept. The assistant changes CV1 only; other chord variations remain as they were.
Review the source harmony and arrangement yourself. Guitar Mode and RX-bearing destinations are blocked from ordinary note replacement. Guitar / RX diagnostics shows articulation-note counts, notes at the start of a section and velocity ranges, with a downloadable report.
Will playback sound identical to a Pa5X?
Local playback is an approximation, including when it uses recordings of your keyboard’s sounds. Recordings do not reproduce the complete synthesis, articulation and effects engine. Auditioning the loaded style through the real Pa5X uses the instrument’s own engine; its selected sounds, mixer and effects still determine the result.
USB or five-pin MIDI?
Your existing USB MIDI connection is sufficient for these controls. For five-pin DIN, use a USB-MIDI interface with both MIDI IN and OUT. Connect interface OUT to Pa5X IN, and Pa5X OUT to interface IN. You need two MIDI cables unless the interface has attached leads. DIN operation has not been physically tested with this release.
