Version 0.38.0: Editing and playback
Style timing, loop slicing and clearer playback
Extend a variation, add a stop bar, or turn a percussion loop into a playable mapped sound.
Change section lengths and meters
Open a style's Notes & patterns > Length and meter. Choose 1 to 32 bars, repeat the existing groove or extend with silence, change the meter, or insert a silent bar. The change covers every part and chord variation, including controllers, RX events and chord tracks.
Changing meter keeps quarter-note timing; it does not invent a new rhythm. Shortening cuts notes at the new end. Save or revert pending note edits first. Save or reset a queued timing edit before resizing again. Unrecognized explicit loop-length layouts are refused.
Slice percussion loops into a mapped sound
Open Samples > Slice a percussion loop. Load a mono or stereo recording, enter its original tempo and detect the hits. Add or remove markers on the waveform, audition individual slices, then choose an empty sound slot.
Add sound and download MIDI queues the samples and mapped sound for the normal set save and downloads the rhythm. Import that MIDI into a percussion part and assign the new sound. Audio levels are preserved. Loops can be up to 60 seconds; sample-count and MIDI-key limits apply.
More native SongBook editing
The SongBook editor now changes tempo in both the entry metadata and its embedded musical setup. It can also replace existing Keyboard Sets using keyboard-set files already in the same set. Name, genre, artist, linked style or song, duplication and set-list editing remain available.
Numeric IDs and master transpose are not editable yet. Their native fields have not been verified, so existing values are preserved.
A playback-volume fix for compressed samples
The PC player now applies the gain stored in compressed samples. Previously it ignored that gain, making affected sounds too quiet. All 60 compressed/uncompressed sample pairs in the comparison matched more closely after this correction.
This corrects one source of playback differences. It does not make the PC's synthesizer, factory sounds or effects identical to a Pa5X.
Compression saving is still disabled
New compressed samples cannot be saved through the app yet. Physical Pa5X load, playback and re-save comparisons are still required, including loops and stereo material.
What was checked
Native timing edits passed on 525 of 527 styles in the file audit; two explicit-loop layouts were refused. All 456 available Intro1 sections also extended successfully. Tempo changes passed on 260 SongBook entries. Tests also cover saved-file reconstruction, unchanged resources, note and RX release, browser controls, MIDI downloads and translations in all 12 app languages.
These are software and file checks. The newly generated files have not yet passed physical Pa5X loading and playback. Keep the original set and audition an edited copy on the instrument before using it live.
